"The Danger of a Single Story"

So after we watched the first few minutes of this video for our discussion of Scott McCloud's Idea/Purpose phase of the Six Steps (and why I hope your Purpose extends beyond getting a grade to telling your story), I decided we should watch the rest as yet another example of visual and verbal personal narrative.

Take some notes as you watch; this piece is fair game for our future research:

Some things to consider/discuss/write about:

  1. What is the danger of the single story?
  2. How do we solve the problem of stereotypes framed by the single story?
  3. How do we avoid telling it?
Questions? Quibbles? Controversies?
